The-Visit

Howdy folks!

This is a story in the form of a poem about an abused horse and the girl who healed the horse's broken trust and spirit through her Love and kindness. There's a moral to this story, of course. Healing can happen with all our wounds, if we allow Love in our hearts to work its magic. I hope you enjoy!

My name is Lemon, without the 'ade'.
Not for my colour though, hue or shade,
For I'm a pinto with brown and white,
Said to be pretty from distant sight.
But up close is a different matter
Or so it's said among human chatter.

My outlook on life is rather grim.
Seeing my sweet side is very slim.
As my name is indicative of,
I'm bitter, too sour for human Love.
Human hands have been unkind;
Have left me in this frame of mind.

Thus humans in general pass me by,
Care not to learn about the why
Or what brought me to my current state,
And made too fearful to change my fate.
My trust is gone, my spirit's broken.
Human abuse, neglect has left its token.

Although I'm now in a better place,
Where every human has a kinder face,
Memories rooted have made their bed,
Are overgrown and deep inside my head.
So, when human kindness comes my way,
I'm still trapped in my yesterday.

I long for the Love and the caring I see
Shown to my stall mates so liberally,
But there seems to be an invisible wall,
I feel so isolated inside my stall.
No human is willing to take the chance
To befriend me in my lonely circumstance.

But then one day my stall door opens wide
And a girl named Shelby slips through inside.
She has with her a book and a chair
And by the door she sits quietly there.
She says nothing to me as I roll my eyes,
Pin back my ears with my defensive disguise.

She just opens the book and starts to read,
Pays no mind, giving my 'tude not a heed.
With myself positioned against the farthest wall,
And what seemed like forever, as I do recall,
She sat quite still, read and munched a bit,
While I pawed and snorted and threw a fit.

But all of my antics she simply ignored,
As into her book, her attention she poured.
"Hmmm.. This is a human unlike all the rest,
Who hasn't run, although I've tried my best
To frighten her and to scare her away.
Yet, here she sits. Is she here to stay?"

Up until now I've been preoccupied
With antics to cover my fear inside,
But now my defenses are slowly receding,
As a new feeling has begun proceeding.
I detect an aroma, my nose is seizing,
One I vaguely remember, but so pleasing.

Now that my focus has been altered bunches,
I can hear, see, and smell, what on she crunches.
As my mouth waters at the sound and the smell,
I can't deny myself what I'd like as well.
Slowly, gingerly, I venture in her direction,
Pausing repeatedly still fearing rejection.

For the first time, she looks up from her reading
And she smiles at me with a friendly, warm greeting.
She pulls something out from the bag she's carrying,
Offers it to me but fear is toughest when burying.
Though my ears are pricked forward in anticipation,
There's rippling through me a strong sensation.

Like electrical shock waves, old memories ignite,
Seizing like demons to keep me trapped in fright.
Though I hear her voice beckoning, calling to me,
Old memories revived block out her kindness to see.
With ears pinned back and fear in the driving seat,
Back against the wall like before, I again retreat.

I watch her closely, expect her to leave,
As all humans have done because they believe
My behaviour depicts my nature as unruly and mean
And I'm quite sure she will too, flee the scene.
But the girl only resumes her former attention,
Reading as though there'd been no intervention.

I relax a little as I begin to wonder about why
She hasn't left me alone with a hasty goodbye.
Why she is still here I can't comprehend.
I'm starting to hope for a different trend
Than the one I've been living based in fear.
Can I really trust this human sitting here?

Though puzzled, perplexed, and confused no doubt,
Taking command, my curious nature pushes fear out.
Again, I move slowly towards the girl who's seated,
Convincing myself by fear I won't be defeated.
But this time and although I'm just inches away,
Reading still, no attention on me does she pay.

How can she not know I'm standing so near?
Perhaps, she's expecting the same to reappear
Like before after her being to me kind and sweet,
Because of fear, I made a quick and hasty retreat.
How do I tell her I won't again act as before,
That it's her attention I wish to only implore?

Her attention for, how long must I wait?
Will my fear return too large to abate?
Her munching on apples and carrots sliced
Has peeked my interest, has me very enticed.
I muster the courage and nuzzle her book
And finally she of me then takes a look.

She puts to her mouth what mine's watering for,
Again the munching I've heard often before.
Can't she see I'm wanting, hoping for too
What she is savouring with every chew?
She acknowledges my presence again with a smile,
As I witness her demeanor of a gentle style.

As she took from a bag another two pieces,
My desire then swells, greatly increases.
She popped one in her mouth, began to chew
And as she looked at me, smiling, too.
Then she offered to my delight and glee
The other slice and so pleasing to me.

As I lipped the treat gently from her hand,
A bond was forming, I'd soon understand.
As she spoke softly in a calm, quiet voice,
It was a moment I'd treasure, in, always rejoice.
Instead of reading her book, she'd been reading me,
Searching to find to my heart, the unlocking key.

She made no advances, just stayed in her seat
And continued to give me treat after treat.
When the apples and carrots were finished and gone,
She slowly stood up with a sigh and a yawn.
As she clutched her book and folded her chair,
She spoke softly to me with a voice of care.

"I must leave you now, but I shall return,
For about each other, there's much to learn."
As she slipped through the door, I felt sad,
But with the hope she'd return, made me glad,
For there was inside me a new ray of hope.
Waiting for her next visit, I knew I could cope.

The next day arrived and with dawn's first beam
I wondered if The Visit had been only a dream.
The morning passed slowly, as did the afternoon.
Then evening came and brought with, the rising moon.
My hope was fading fast along with the day.
Then as my heart was sinking, I heard her say.

"So sorry I'm late, but my word I'm keeping,
For I must do so for my restful sleeping."
She had no book, no chair, just a bag of treats,
More apples and carrots, nature's own sweets.
Her presence I knew then was genuine and real
And I can't describe how elated she made me feel.

She opened and slipped inside my door.
I nickered a greeting I'd not done before.
As she gave me a treat, my neck she stroked
And for the first time, I felt joy invoked.
Inside of me there was not an ounce of fear.
This human's kindness to me is crystal clear.

For days she came just to visit with me,
And I looked forward for her face to see.
Each day she came she brought some treats
And I'd nicker softly to her upon our greets.
Though I didn't understand all her chatter,
With her petting me gently, it didn't matter.

Days turned into weeks, then into months on end,
With her wavering not from the start of this trend.
Each new step we took throughout my retraining,
Her gentle and kind way kept on remaining.
The fear and distrust that once humans created,
Another human's heart of Love removed, vacated.

We work together, my aim is to please;
We play together, I'm always at ease.
We go on adventures, explore together.
She needs not for me a rope or tether.
My world has changed into one that's bright,
Even sunny and cheerful in the dark of night.

My name is still Lemon, but now with 'Ade',
Since I'm no longer bitter, sour, afraid.
Having been sweetened now ever so much
Through kindness and caring, a Loving touch,
My 'tude's adjusted with a much better perspective,
But with trusting humans, I'm careful, selective.

As for the girl, my human best friend,
For her patience and Love that helped me mend,
I'll always be grateful, loyal, and true,
For releasing me from the prison I knew.
Though all my bad memories cannot be ever erased,
I'm flooded with good ones, she has in me placed.

Smiles and hugs to give are free,
So no need to selfish be.
Give a hug with a smile,
Give a hug to bring a smile,
To another's heart,
To another's face.
Spread love and kindness EVERY place.

Since smiles and hugs nothing cost,
There's all to gain with nothing lost.
So be generous for the more you give,
The more and happier hearts will live.
Smiles and hugs, the magic of,
Is because they're made of love.

Solution-OR-Problem

Howdy folks!

Each one of us is either on the side of solution or on the side of the problem. There is no middle ground or in between. Therefore, if our actions and behaviour aren't helping to contribute to, aren't geared towards, making improvements, making corrections, making things better and so forth, that then cumulatively is beneficial for all of us on the whole in some way 'selfLESSly', then we are contributing to the problem side.

Many think that doing nothing is okay, that by doing nothing, they aren't adding to the problem side. These people think it's not up to 'them'; it's up to everyone else, BUT them, to do their part in making things better. If how so many behave on the Internet is any indication, then apparently far too many are thinking this way. News flash! To make things better, all must add something positive so collectively, positive changes can be made. Nothing, doing nothing, is a 'negative' NOT a positive. Bullying, insulting, attacking others and shooting them down, etc. is definitely NOT a positive and IS definitely, part of the problem.

Also, when we learn of, thus know about wrongdoing going on, and we choose to do nothing, say nothing, we are then part of the problem because we "enable" the wrongdoing to continue; we offer NO resistance and hence, we therefore "provide assistance" to/for the wrongdoer and their wrongdoing. Doing nothing, saying nothing, works 'in favour of' the wrongdoer.

"There's a time for silence
And a time to speak;

We all should learn when
And which to seek."
~ Artsieladie Quote

But, I also think many people believe they can't make a difference by themselves and so, believing their efforts would be futile, they resign themselves to doing nothing. There's no one of us 'on our own' who can save the world. Impossible! But if we each do a little, collectively, cumulatively, we could, would change the world for the better. Altogether then, we become not only 'part of the solution' as individuals but we collectively become "the solution".

One would tend to think, we humans would have learned this by now with all of the disasters and catastrophes that have occurred all over the world for centuries. Whenever has it been 'just one person' making the recoveries of a disaster possible? There are no cases of such I know of. It's always a collective effort with all those contributing setting aside differences to help, who are therefore individually a part of the solution and collectively, become the solution. So, why aren't we realising this and doing likewise across the board with all aspects of our lives; with all the problems we encounter?

Love is humanity's Greatest Gift. When a disaster occurs, we see and hear about countless examples of Love through all the caring, kindness, helping/giving, empathy, compassion, etc.. We witness the magic! So, we KNOW Love is within us! But instead of us humans continuing to keep paying the Love forward, applying the magic, so many slam on the brakes and resort back to petty bickering and all else the absence of Love perpetuates.

Love is the true essence of humanity. With all the catastrophic events we've been through and still, the lesson of Love we are NOT learning! In spite of having the lesson taught to us a gazillion times, we are flunking the course! Intelligent species!? Humans on the whole can't even learn the simple lessons of Love; that Love IS and holds the key, the answers to world-wide peace and harmony! Instead, we carry on with wars and violence and killing and destruction; stealing, conniving, insulting, imposing, and the list goes on and on! Regardless of what religion or not, humans are NOT getting the message! Thousands and thousands and thousands of years and humans still appear to be absolutely clueless! Are humans really this stupid?

An intelligent person is one who's gained/absorbed a wealth of knowledge. Wisdom is one who has also but the difference is, a person of wisdom applies the knowledge in a way that's beneficial to others besides themselves, since in addition to intelligence and by utilizing that intelligence, they learn the human ego is nothing more than an illusion, a fallacy, and wise people deal with real not fake, superficial, or fallacies. Hence, 'on the whole' humans may be an intelligent species, but 'on the whole' humans aren't very wise. Add arrogance (ego in control) to this, and well, the picture speaks for itself. I'm speaking about humans here 'on the whole' because we all know there are and have been throughout time, some amazing humans. I know and have known a few myself.

Lasting, sustainable solutions are found through applying characteristics of Love, especially humility, because in the presence of humility being cultivated is the absence of ego's influence, since these two traits can't co-exist in the same capacity. The ego causes problems and inhibits solutions, since ego is all about self: thinking of and promoting self. So, invariably, by allowing our ego to control us, thus define us, we then also allow our ego to confine us, rewarding us with closed minds, closed hearts, incapable then of understanding or even wanting to understand from any perspective other than our own, making us rigid and unyielding, as well as unwilling to see and acknowledge our shortcomings and mistakes, and should we feel forced to, we then become belligerent, even obnoxious, as we then just resort to insulting and fault finding of the other side. We can't tackle and resolve a problem, if we're more preoccupied with tackling, attacking each other. ..And on the larger scale involving countries, more specifically those running countries, THIS results in wars. Totally unproductive and definitely destructive!

We all have shortcomings and we all make mistakes, but those who are controlled by their ego, this fact they don't want to acknowledge, much less, accept and definitely not do they want to have these pointed out to them. Then when you have ego on both sides, you have an undeniable impasse, an absolute deadlock, making a solution, a resolving of differences, completely impossible.

I dare say the human ego is going to be the one contributing factor that's going to destroy humanity because it's our ego that's behind so many of the negative traits so many are feeding and thus projecting. Bullying, bashing, insulting, imposing, harassing, etc. are ego based. All sorts of crimes committed against others, like infringing on the rights of others, stealing, assaulting, and even murder and rape, the ego has involvement with, since ego is not about accountability. Ego is about justification, providing the host of with excuses and since ego is deceptive, ego condones lying and deception, even deceiving the person it's controlling. Therefore, humility, truth and honesty are not only foreign concepts to ego, they are seen as enemies. Since ego is all about self, self promotion, self gratification, and anything and everything for self, the ego supports and promotes such traits as greed/lust, power hunger, and superiority.

Ego, as are all the other traits both positive and negative, is within each of us, whether we like it or not. But we are all also given 'free will' to choose for ourselves, which and what we allow to be predominant or recessive. The secret to having integrity, virtue, and an overall character of excellence is not the absence of negative traits nor denying their presence, but rather cultivating an awareness of their existence within us and then keeping them in check while empowering the positive traits, and in so doing, we cultivate humility. As long as we cultivate humility, we control our ego, since by being humble, we recognise and accept that we are not perfect or infallible, that we do make mistakes and we do have shortcomings, all of which are repulsive to the ego, as are the positive traits, humility promotes, especially when we show caring and compassion for and understanding of others, since ego is all about and promotes self.

So, back to being part of the solution or part of the problem. So many aren't part of the solution and therefore, inadvertently, are part of the problem. What's the inhibitor? Being part of the solution does not mean we have to do some sort of super, over-the-top deed. Although money can certainly help in devastating events, there's something much more important and substantial that we ALL can do, and will cost us nothing in our wallets nor will this cost us a large amount of our precious time. It's very simple, yet with profound effects, especially when many participate and especially since it's contagious. But it will require us to subdue our ego.

Perhaps then, it's our ego inhibiting us. Hence, the bit lengthy, aforementioned subject matter. The ego is very touchy. Do we dare address our ego to allow the essence of humanity to flow from us? ..To spread among us? ..To connect us? ..To unite us? Aren't we capable of being nice, caring, kind, compassionate, considerate, thoughtful, etc. or are we humans on the whole too attached, too chained to our egos? Being still a believer in with hope for humanity and the tremendous power of the human spirit, most especially collectively, I certainly hope not.

"Solution OR Problem"

http://messages.365greetings.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Einstein-Quotes.jpg

Part of the problem or of the solution
Depends upon one's contribution.
There's only two sides, no middle ground,
No place in between can there be found.

To be part of the solution, one must be
Doing SOMEthing for and productively
To resolve, correct, counteract,
In SOME way doing a selfLESS act.

If part of the solution, one is not,
Then to the problem they add, allot.
Since they provide no resistance,
To the problem they give assistance.

Those who do nothing either way,
Are part of the problem anyway.
For those who do nothing, they enable,
Thus fit and wear the problem label.

Those who do wrong of various kinds,
Regardless what type that undermines,
Violates another's rights and space,
Are the problem; are a disgrace.

Such individuals destroy our peace,
Create problems for stress increase
And if we do nothing, then we are too,
Part of the problem with blame due.

So many think, seem to perceive
That doing nothing will relieve
Them of their duty and obligation,
But instead, they join the causation.

To all those of you who are doing wrong,
Knowingly, willingly, then you belong
With being branded not just the part,
But of the problem, you're at the heart.

Part of the problem or of the solution
Depends on for which, your contribution.
Those doing nothing and/or doing wrong
ARE the problems and help them along.

So, I ask, on which side are you;
Which side do you contribute to?
On the side of solution OR the other side
Do you choose to be, do you decide?

"Solution OR problem; no middle ground,
One side OR the other, we each are found.
We cannot be on both or in between;
Solution OR problem, we choose which scene."

Wonders-We-Can-Do

Greetings everyone, from Artsieladie!

We all have the power to, for someone else be there.
We all can make a difference and show that we care.
We often think this takes money and/or something big,
But a tree becomes a tree from just a little twig.

Perhaps, another soul is having a bad day.
Perhaps, another soul is sad, lost in dismay.
Perhaps, another soul has reason to be stressed,
Perhaps, feeling hopeless making them depressed.

The point is, we all have times when we could use some lifting,
We all feel from time to time somewhat lost and drifting.
But when we are given an encouraging word or two,
A smile and some kindness, our spirits are made anew.

Instead of thinking big, think instead of small.
If we each give a little, together we'd give all,
All that would be needed to make a happy place
In each and every heart, seen on every face.

Accumulated Love, accumulated kindness,
Hearts would be cured and without blindness;
Blindness to compassion, to caring, and to giving,
All Components of Love for the joyful way of living.

When we have the chance to for that someone be,
We should take advantage of the opportunity,
With a taste of Love, make a day a little more sweet,
Give a pleasant smile to those whom we meet.

When we warm another's heart, bring them a little cheer,
Whether they are far away from us or if they are near,
We're spreading around Love, the arch enemy of hate;
God's Divine Gift, we defend, send, and propagate.

To make someone's day better, a little more bright
Cost us nothing yet, inside of us feels good and right.
When we make another feel better, we feel better, too,
And if we all pass it forward, the Wonders We Can Do.

Paint-With-Love

Greetings everyone, from Artsieladie

We each an artist are with a canvas of our own
On which we paint our life, work to be shown.
The paint we choose to use with every brush stroke
Determines who we are and what kind of folk.
♥

 "Paint With Love"

Your world Paint With Love
Using every colour and hue
And your canvas of life
Will make a happy you.

Dip your brush in kindness
And spread it generously.
Paint with compassion
And forgiveness vividly.

Apply consideration
When going for unique.
This will add pizzazz
To your own technique.

Use plenty of understanding,
Remember as you paint,
Perfection isn't expected
For no one is a saint.

Flaws add character
And allow humility
To be on your canvas
Where ego shouldn't be.

When you Paint With Love,
Mix your colours well.
Paint with your heart and soul,
But your canvas never sell.

Only share your colours,
The paints that you use,
The more you share with others
The more colour you'll infuse.

The canvas of your life
Should be brilliant and bright
And when you Paint With Love,
It will radiate with Light.

With giving, add with joy,
With caring don't be shy,
And when you Paint With Love
Don't ever let It dry!
