Keeping-Ones-Word

Howdy folks!

VERY, VERY few people actually keep their word. Hence, the same goes for being able to absolutely trust as well. If a person can't or doesn't keep their word, they cannot be completely trusted either. Elementary!

Trust has two phases. First, one has to trust another with something and then second, watch and listen carefully as to how another treats what they were trusted with. It's in how the other person regards what they were trusted with that tells the tale of whether or not they are a trustworthy individual. I've learned well to 'test the waters' first with something minor or with something I won't care if it gets around and sometimes even with something I want to get around. The results have been VERY few people pass the test with almost everyone I've tested flunking out bigtime. Needless to say, those tested and flunked, I don't ever then place any trust in them again. "Burn me once, shame on you; burn me twice, shame on me!"

"Keeping One's Word"
(image pending)

Keeping One's Word is a rare find today,
Since VERY few follow, do what they say.
Words are so easy to dispense and spew,
But require investment to follow them through.

When in confidence to someone you speak,
Can you really be sure, they will not leak
Anything said in private to another soul;
Can they really be trusted to be not a mole?

VERY few can be believed, trusted this much,
And in your absence, when you're out of touch,
They'll tell another what they swore they would not
And it's not because they simply forgot.

So many times I've heard the same ol' line,
"It's between you and I; don't worry, it's fine",
Only to discover eventually and learn,
What was said in private did come back, return.

How many will promise there's something they'll do,
But then forget what they said and don't follow through?
Then when you ask them about doing what they said,
They react with belligerence to fault you instead.

VERY few people actually will ever keep their word
And when they renege, they'll claim you've misheard.
If you then prove to them what in fact they said,
Don't expect apologies, just insults instead.

Keeping One's Word is indeed, a VERY rare trait
That only a character of excellence will cultivate.
One who does not can never be trusted completely,
If they place no value on behaving discreetly.

Monster

Howdy folks!

Anyone who creates havoc in another person's life and/or causes another pain, unpleasantness, stress, grief, etc., in my book is a MONSTER!

"Monster"
(image pending)

Everywhere I go a monster tags along,
No matter what I do, everything is wrong.
It seems he has attached himself to my life, to me,
No matter what I do, I can't of him shake free.

I do not wish to slay the monster,
He just needs to get a life,
One that doesn't cause me
All this stress and strife.

His life must be a pathetic one
If it's so important for him to
Stalk me on the Internet and
Eavesdrop on my phones, too.

Then because he didn't like
What I, to a friend, said,
He destroyed the harddrive,
Made my computer dead.

Many friends fear the monster
And so their distance keep,
But I cannot blame them
For fear of what they'll reap.

If they should be too close,
Or stand in my defense,
Because he is a jealous monster,
Wrath he will dispense.

Male friends who are
Especially close and dearly,
He hates fiercely and so,
Then punishes me severely.

So this battle I must fight
Mostly by myself, alone,
Praying for the strength
I'll need to be my very own.

But the day will come when,
At last I will be free
Of the monster who delights in
And lives to torment me.

To the Monster stalking me,
I just have this to say,
"There is inside of you
A better person than you display."

Beauty-Within

Howdy folks!

Only a person who cares about another enough will see beauty in the other person, when others won't or can't. I believe every person has beauty within them in spite of the ugliness they may be projecting. It's just that you have to look more closely and carefully to find and see it. There is within a Rose Amidst The Thorns.

"The Beauty Within"
(image pending)

Oh, great King, AikanΓ‘ro be thy name,
Have seen your mighty strength, been singed by your flame.
With an air of arrogance, a mountain full of pride,
A thicket of projections methodically applied;
High upon a pedestal, although up there alone,
You present yourself to which no one can atone.

But, you cannot hide what's deep within, concealed,
In spite intentions driven, for magic has revealed
A warm heart beating, romantically inclined,
Kind, gentle, yet strong, with an independent mind.

Only one that cares enough to pursue beyond your cover,
Will appreciate the soul within, be pleased to discover,
The elements of a rogue are just a masterful disguise,
But for a true believer, the reflections in your eyes
Speak in silence clearly, to tell a different tale,
For a rose lies in waiting, its beauty to unveil.

When the day has come, in the mirror you do see,
The greatest power within you has yet to be set free,
It is then you will be granted, a power unsurpassed,
And the darkness in your heart shall be out forever cast.

Words

Howdy folks!

"Sticks and stones may break our bones,
But like new, they'll mend and heal.
Words can break our hearts and spirits,
Leaving wounds beyond repeal."

"Words as weapons carve wounds deep,
Leaving scars behind to always keep."

"Sticks and stones may break our bones,
But like new, they'll mend and heal.
Words can break our hearts and spirits,
Leaving wounds beyond repeal."

Remember, use some thought and care
Before thy swords unsheathe;
Review thy weapons carefully
Before you thrust, bequeath.

Words can so elate us,
Bring joys without measure,
Cradling us in Love and kindness,
Become our cherished treasure.

But words can epitomize
Deep chasms of despair,
Chisel away our hearts and souls,
Causing pain we cannot bear.

So, let's remember this.
For the targets that we seek,
Choose our words more wisely
And think before we speak.

"The careless aim of a thoughtless tongue
Can deeply wound an innocent one."

Three-Halloween-Guests

Howdy folks!

This poem I wrote along with creating artwork to go with it back in October, 2007 as entries in the Halloween art and poetry competitions Elftown.com used to have. Unfortunately, Elftown has become a virtual ghost town now, barely able to maintain a hundred active members, when it used to have many thousands of active members.

I have many great memories from the days when Elftown was a lot of fun to be on, with many great, talented artists and writers. To say I once loved the site and supported it immensely would be a profoundly gross under statement. Some who I became friends with, I am still friends with today.

But I also have many horrible memories brought on in a nutshell because of one, high ranking person's obsession on the site and another on the site with a high ranking position who was consumed with resentful, bitter jealousy over the obsession that only time has provided me with the vital information connecting the dots. Harbouring and feeding an obsession is seldom if ever good or healthy. Jealousy is a VERY destructive trait to feed and nurture and so, both are traits I choose to starve, steer clear of.

First, I'm posting my latest version of the artwork, a remake with a much better monitor to work with along with much more experience creating digitally, and then the second image is the original. I've also learned since that the PNG format is the much better format for saving art as. The poem is as I wrote it in 2007 and it was a winning entry in Elftown's Halloween Poetry Competition.

The Halloween bash has begun.
Most of the guests have come.
There's ghosts and goblins, witches, too.
They've gathered around their boiling brew.
Somehow, the party seems incomplete,
Even though, there's a variety of feet.

Then, the door opens and there stands three.
Three unknowns, who might they be?

The first is dressed in fleece, a sheep.
Silenced are all, not even a peep.
The second walks in, a pig for sure.
Grunts escape, as he leans on the door.
The third, the last, wearing a crimson hood,
Everyone's eyeing, in the entrance he stood.

The party resumes with ghoulish fun.
Some tricks are played on more than one.
No one's concerned with the three let in,
Nor to the fact, they're not even of kin.

The striking of twelve has long since passed.
The brew is cold, the scene aghast.
Where are the guests? No laughing or screaming,
'Cept the three, sleeping and dreaming,
With paws on their bellies, they're snoring loud,
They've really enjoyed, eating the crowd!

Spirits-Summons

Howdy folks!

With Halloween just around the corner...

"Spirits' Summons"

Stirring, stirring...

Dellaroo stands, smiling over her pot,
Stirring up a potion, bubbling hot.
"Come one, come all!
It's time for a spiritual ball!"
She spews forth a chant, repeated in three.
She dances with joy, tickled with glee.
As the vapors rise, forms appear.
Her summons' been heard, far and near.
A wicked grin creeps across her face,
An assortment of spirits all over the place.
"Spirits come forth! Arise! Arise!
Come! Come! Reveal thyselves before my eyes!
Ghosts! Ghosts! Condense your matter.
Your chains create a melodic clatter.
Goblins and ghouls, conspire, contrive.
The hunt begins when you all arrive."

Stirring, stirring...

Dellaroo looks around, her heart aglee.
Piercing the veil of darkness she doth see.
So many eyes of perilous demise,
Each in their own unique disguise.
"Is everyone here? Practice your gloom.
Perfect your craft. The darkness consume.
The instillment of fright has begun,
As this haunting commences, bring on the fun!"

Stirring, stirring...

”The hour of twelve, ready, set, prowl.
The wolves, awakened, are starting to howl.
Go forth now. Frighten your best.
Many souls await you in your quest.
Utilize those closets and beds, underneath,
Perfect places to rattle and chatter your teeth.
Add some wailing moans, but don't call it quits,
‘Til you've scared all the living out of their wits!"

Stirring, stirring...

Behind-The-Gun

Howdy folks!

I think this poem speaks well for itself.

"Behind the Gun"
(image pending)

Guns are just objects all on their own;
They know not whether to oppose or condone.
They have no mind to think, judge, or rate.
Hence, blaming them rests with a human trait.

Humans can't accept accountability,
Because the human ego defies humility.
So anything we can, we humans like to blame
Because our ego can't accept feeling any shame.

So when a drunk driver gets behind the wheel,
Gets into a crash and another's life does steal,
It must be the car's fault, such an awful deed,
So banning of cars should then be decreed?

Bombs put themselves together and detonate;
Humans play no role in causing such a fate.
Vehicles drive themselves, plow into a crowd;
Such awful things, why are they allowed!?

Now let's address the topic of the dreadful gun,
Such heinous crimes they have all ALONE done.
First they snatch bullets, in the chamber pop,
And then, the trigger pulling we humans cannot stop!

Guns have such evil minds, how they love to kill!
Humans are so helpless against a gun's will!
Is it any wonder why humans want to confiscate
All these evil guns, consumed of such hate?

If all this seems ridiculous, then made is the point
That humans shift the blame, objects with, anoint.
Meanwhile, the human ego is preserved and protected
From accountability and blame can be rejected.

When humans face the fact our ego is at fault,
And learn to subdue it, only then we will halt
What's causing and behind many problems we face,
Thus we learn the true enemy of the human race.

Ego rebukes blame because ego's always right;
Excuses it supplies to feel not contrite.
Ego serves the self only, thrives on deception,
Paints fake as real, a believable perception.

Ego is demanding, will lie and deceive
To get what it wants; will steal to retrieve.
When the ego is denied what the ego seeks,
With belligerence and force, ego then speaks.

Ego condones dishonesty, exploits the human traits
Of the humans' darker side that humility negates.
Ego is unyielding, promotes a narrow mind,
Sees only for itself; for others it is blind.

When ego's given the upper hand, is allowed control,
It's vile tendencies infect the host's heart and soul
And so allows one to host, promote, and perpetuate
All of humans' darkest traits, the vileness of hate.

Since so many humans have their ego in control,
It should be no surprise we are reaping the toll.
Guns aren't doing the killing, handing us our fate;
It's the human ego condoning the vileness of hate.

Only when we humans wake up and realise,
Humility is needed to remove the disguise,
So we can see our ego in its true light
And for Love instead of hate, we can then fight.

"When ego's in control, is the holder of the gun,
Allowing hate to pull the trigger, killing will be done."

Ego-Destroys-Peace

Howdy folks!

Humanity's greatest weakness is the human ego. At the root of our problems is the human ego. The greatest hindrance with solving our problems is the human ego. We're divided because of human ego. We attack and violate others, we infringe on others, we demean, harass and bully others, we steal from others, we impose on others, we lie to and cheat others, we blame others, we hate others, etc., etc., because we elect to please and appeal to our ego, because denying our ego power requires strength, courage, and effort and humans by default seek the easiest route that calls for the least amount of effort.

We can't grasp the true essence and power of Love to enable us to apply the Elements of Love with and towards each other, because the human ego gets in the way. The human ego is humanity's greatest flaw and yet, we give it power that eventually the human ego will lead humanity to its own demise.

Peace is in our hands, but peace can't ever be,
Until the human ego surrenders to humility.
As long as the ego controls our heart and mind,
Peace will be out of reach; peace we'll never find.

Ego serves the self, justifies the human need
To satisfy selfish ways of lust, power, and greed.
Ego provides excuses for humans to lie and cheat,
Making accountability unnecessary, and so, obsolete.

Ego allows lesser traits to take center stage,
Eroding the human character, as good traits disengage.
Evidence of the human ego is around us everywhere
With the lack of empathy and the dishonesty to spare.

To bring us all together, technology should be the tool
To unite all humans worldwide, but lost is the Golden Rule.
It appears human intelligence isn't all it's cracked up to be,
Because human arrogance rules, giving ignorance more relevancy.

With the human ego in control, promoting hate behind the gun,
Causing killing and destruction, the war on hate cannot be won.
As long as there is hatred in human hearts still living,
Peace will elude us, until we choose to Love and be forgiving.

The human ego is not at all our comrade, buddy, or our friend,
Breeding arrogance within us to keep division without an end.
Division makes us weak and the more we divide and separate,
We turn against each other, betray Love for the sake of hate.

Humility breeds good character, being considerate with compassion;
Ego breeds just the opposite, self serving as the stylish fashion.
If we were to ever become one and a humble, human race,
Love could then flourish for peace to, upon us all, grace.
