Flying-Monkey

Howdy folks! ♥

The term, 'flying monkey' is used in psychology, referring to a person who believes and believes in another person under false pretenses and is usually associated with narcissism and narcissistic abuse, since narcissists (narcs) are known as masters of manipulation (especially through gaslighting) and of disguise (many 'masks'; impostors); are pathological liars, are extremely arrogant (either to cover their high level of insecurity and low self esteem - 'vulnerable narcissism' or because they really believe they're perfect - 'grandiose narcissism').

The person believed in, projects themselves as one of good character, when in fact, they aren't. Narcs are shallow and spineless, lack the ability to empathize, love, feel remorse, or care about anyone other than themselves. They insatiably crave attention, respect, Love, admiration, adoration, acceptance, etc., but since their personality type ultimately undermines and destroys that which they crave, to compensate they're boastful, they lie, and manipulate to control another, unable to comprehend that the very tactics they're using are really working against them.

Flying monkeys believe in the goodness of another, though falsely projected, and are different than enablers, since enablers merely either go along with or cover up an abuser's bad behaviour. Empaths are particularly vulnerable, are easy targets for a narc and empaths provide narcs their 'narcissistic supply', which narcs feast on. Since empaths are caring, compassionate, and nurturing people, who see good in others, they're an easy mark for a narc. ♥

"Flying Monkey"

I was once your Flying Monkey,
For I believed so much in you.
I sang loudly your praises,
As Flying Monkeys often do.

To believe you to be a narc
Was farthest from my mind,
But a heart believing can
And often is so blind.

I defended you many times
Knowing I'd be reprimanded,
Ostracised, belittled;
As crazy, even branded.

Even when the red flags
Kept appearing one by one,
I then made excuses, many,
For your wrongful deeds done.

I was warned by others,
But when one's heart is true,
They will remain steadfast;
Stay loyal through and through.

The only colours that I saw
Were of rose coloured glass.
All your other colours hidden,
In a character, cruel and crass.

I gave willingly of my time.
Endless hours were consumed,
Doing things for you, your dream,
As your ego soared and bloomed.

When the red flags became
Too many to overlook, ignore,
To be fair with you, still,
Your reason I then asked you for.

Instead of appreciating
The chance I gave you to explain,
You attacked me viciously
And began your smearing campaign.

Your other Flying Monkeys
You then sicced them on me,
'Cause truth I'd learned about you,
Others might also learn and see.

No morals, no ethics,
No values, no integrity,
No remorse, no shame,
No compassion, no empathy.

You're just a narc
With no heart or soul;
Just emptiness inside,
A huge, black hole.

All these years and still,
Your stylus, never does it move.
Still arrogant and superficial
And stuck in your ego's groove.

But 'this' Flying Monkey
Has landed now on solid ground.
I see you for what/who you are
And truth rings a freedom sound.

All your Flying Monkeys
Can, your bidding, do,
But eventually all will learn
The truth and will bid you then, adieu.

Outside-Looking-In

Howdy folks! ♥

When you truly Love someone, with every fiber of your being, you can forgive them a gazillion times, wipe clean over and over their slate of mistakes; make tons of excuses for them and their behaviour; you can believe in them until the cows come home; you can overlook/accept their shortcomings; you can encourage them in every way you know of to shine; you can offer understanding up the wazoo and have the patience of Job... but if all the one you Love cares about is playing with you and your emotions/feelings and using your Love to use you, abuse you, hurt you, destroy you, then the only recourse you have left, is to quit, slam that door shut and bolt it, and don't look back.

Yeah, it's painful but in time you can heal, whereas, if you stay in a dead end, heart wrenching situation, you can NEVER heal, which a toxic person doesn't want you to heal. They want to keep your wounds they inflict, raw, gaping, and as painful as possible, since it is for them a main source of pleasure. Your crying, your pain, your suffering, your agony, is a turn on for them. They get a 'high' from your pain. Toxic people are toxic to themselves and everyone else they can possibly infect and loving such an individual is not only hopeless, but self destructive for sure, because the more you Love them, the more understanding, patient, forgiving, etc. you are, the more ammunition they invert to use against you. Narcs have no conscience, feel nothing, including remorse, and are therefore, incapable of Love. They loathe who they are and so, they use their ego to create a fake version of themselves, while everything about themselves they loathe, they then project it all onto others, and if you Love such a person, you'll get the brunt of their projections. ♥

"Outside Looking In"
(image pending)

Once I wanted you in my life
To be a vital part.
Once you had an open invitation
To be inside my heart.
Once I admired you tremendously,
Held you in high regard,
Once you were important to me,
In my life you starred.

But then you destroyed it all,
A little bit at a time,
As you played me for a fool,
Like I'm not worth a dime.
But still, I didn't give up,
Gave you umpteen chances,
Made excuses for your behaviour,
Causing unpleasant circumstances.

I didn't want to think of you
As being a heartless narc,
But eventually you forced me to
See you're all black and dark.
There is no Love within you,
Only ego, spite, and hate.
You live to torment others,
In a pathetic, lifeless state.

The rose I saw within you
Turned out to be a fake;
Just another of your con jobs
To advantage of me, take.
I like to believe there's good
Inside of every heart,
But you've convinced me
You're void of any such part.

I thought...
If I Loved you enough,
The good in you would shine;
If I forgave you enough,
From cruelty you'd resign;
If I believed in you enough,
You'd have courage to be brave
To follow a path of integrity
And value this enough to save.

But this is how you like it,
As you wallow in your mud,
A quagmire of a pathetic life,
With the stench of ego's crud.
If you didn't like your life,
Then changes you would make.
To encourage you is pointless,
Since you like your ego made fake.

Behind your wall of superficial,
You're a weak, spineless, coward.
You're dependent upon your ego
To make you feel empowered.
But strip away your ego and
Of substance, nothing's there,
Which this is fine with you,
Since you don't give a damn to care.

For you I have and feel no hate,
Which I'm sure you'd like me to,
Since then you could claim victory
In making me just like hateful you.
You are everything I'm not,
Filled with hateful jealousy,
And I'm everything you're not,
Love, compassion, with integrity.

On the Outside Looking In you are
And it's all you'll ever be,
Because to keep you in my heart
Would mean destroying me.
I have a heart of Love,
Which you cannot understand,
Because yours is of hate
With your ego in command.

Hence, though upon my door
You in different ways knock,
You're wasting your time, dear,
Since I'll never it, unlock.
It's taken me a long time
To come to my conclusion
That you are nothing more
Than a toxic, cancerous intrusion.

I do not give up easily.
It takes a LOT for me to quit,
But this has been a dead end,
Which now I finally get.
You have no heart for a rose,
With your black ego in control.
You're a pit of pure emptiness,
With a black hole for a soul.

In my life now, there's only real,
No more room will I make
For empty, heartless black holes
Hidden under superficial, fake.
On the Outside Looking In is
As close as you'll ever get to me,
Since I've traded in the fake you
For the REAL He, which you'll never be.

He, I can depend upon
And with, have an honest REAL chat;
He, I can have faith in
Not an immature, fake technocrat.
With He, I know I'm Loved
Not just a target to on, inflict pain;
With He, I am protected
And I'm freed from my sanity being slain.

Between the likes of you and He,
You cannot compare,
Since He is real and true,
While you have lots of fake to spare.
On a scale from one to ten,
He is a thousand plus
And you? You're a negative of the same,
With the applicable title, wuss.

Ciao!

She-Followed-Her-Heart

Howdy folks! ♥

You can follow your heart all you want,
But if to a heart that's cold, nonchalant,
Or unreceptive for whatever reason,
It's best to say so long to a season
Where love once had a chance to bloom,
But the receiving heart for, would make no room.
You can't get blood out of a stone
And love for two can't thrive alone
In a heart of one, the other naught,
Where by their ego one is caught.
Arrogance does, humbleness steal
And the pride derived cannot feel
The love vibrations from another's heart.
So, this love for two can never start.

"She Followed Her Heart"
She Followed Her Heart poem by Artsieladie

JIF url:

She followed her heart to a distant shore,
And knocked upon the beckoning door.
The one inside when once did hear,
Although expecting, froze in fear,
And now refuses to let her in,
Denying love that could have been.

So in dreams she haunts his sleep,
Because of love he didn't keep.
Yet by day in shadows lurking,
Watches her as she's working;
While she plays and chats with friends,
On and on, it never ends.

Although so often, through glimpses caught,
She knows he's watching. He says naught.
Denying the truth, to himself he lies,
Continues charade in false disguise.
For in her journal, a log well kept,
With data gathered, quite adept,
Evidence of, profoundly affirms,
Therefore, voiding his very own terms.

She followed her heart;
He denied his own.
She's moving on;
He's still alone.

The-Miserable

Howdy folks! ♥

I'm pretty sure that everyone has met up with, crossed paths with, people who are miserable. Miserable people are insensitive, inconsiderate, cruel, nasty, hurtful, etc., etc., both with their words and their actions/behaviours without due cause. In other words for no reason at all, they talk and behave this way. They don't care they cause harm to and hurt others or that they carry out wrongs against others. They don't care about themselves in ways that count and so, they are incapable of caring about others as well. In fact, there are miserable people who actually delight in causing harm to others, even thrive on such despicable behaviour. Causing harm to others includes saying deliberate hurtful remarks and comments as well, causing internal pain, a very real pain, which can be felt within the person on the receiving end and is likely already in existence in the one causing it. Regardless however, about why miserable people inflict pain, doing so can't be justified simply because they are hurting inside themselves even though miserable people do exactly this, whether consciously or subconsciously.

The key thing to remember when having unfortunate encounters with miserable people is, it is "they" who are miserable "with themselves" and they're seeking to make others as miserable as they are, because it is true, "Misery loves company". They want others to "share their pain with them", because miserable people are really 'suffering people'. They are suffering inside for a number of reasons or a combination of. Insecurities: feeling inadequate in some way or ways, low self esteem deeming themselves as not having much value or worth, feeling unsuccessful, feeling unimportant, haven't realised or found their life's purpose, immaturity, etc., are all things that can contribute to a person feeling miserable.

Miserable people try to project onto others that which they don't like within or about themselves. By projecting onto others what they don't like about themselves, they think they're ridding themselves of whatever they're projecting and whoever they're projecting on, they think they're bringing that person down closer to their level and in so doing, they feel they've lifted themselves and even a sense of accomplishment with their behaviour. In their mind they think they are taking away from the other person what they see in themselves lacking. If they can't or don't have whatever it is they're coveting, they don't think another should either. 'Course, it's a very immature way of thinking.

When miserable people meet up with, especially people who are happy. loving, caring, successful and/or are good at what they do, are well liked by others, have integrity, and/or who are attractive in appearance to name some positive characteristics, this triggers resentment, jealousy, envy, etc.. People don't covet bad traits or characteristics in another person, but covet quality and good ones. A person covets because they feel they are lacking that which they covet. For this reason, it's good to remember that jealousy is really "inverted admiration".

A person who is mature, balanced, well adjusted is secure and comfortable with themselves and is aware of both their attributes and their shortcomings. When they see characteristics in others they find admirable, they don't covet. Instead, they are inspired and will make a conscious decision to try to incorporate into their own character what they see positive in another person. An immature person covets. A mature person is inspired.

I'm not saying though that mature, balanced, and well adjusted people don't experience feeling miserable from time to time, because anyone can and I dare say most have and/or do here and there, because life itself comes with curve balls, bumpy roads, and unexpected unpleasantness. But the difference is, well adjusted people don't allow themselves to remain in a state of misery. They find a way to fight against and rise above the unpleasantness so they can carry on with their life in a way that's workable for them to move forward productively without harbouring bitterness, resentment, and/or hatred in their hearts.

I honestly believe one of the best things that can be done for another person who is in that quagmire of misery is to help them find within themselves their own value, worth, and purpose, whether it be again or for the first time. However, there are some who have built a wall so thick and so tall, it's impenetrable and then there are others who just want to stay in that miserable quagmire state and seem to like wallowing in their misery and inflicting pain and misery onto others. ♥

With all the rotten behaviour seen on the Internet,
It is best to remember, don't let ourselves forget
That those who are with themselves, so disatisfied,
Inflict their misery onto others to feel more gratified.

People who are bullies; are heartless, cruel, and mean,
Carry around within themselves a very ugly scene.
Because for who and what they are, they feel contempt,
They want others to be like them. No one is exempt.

Instead of taking measures to help themselves improve,
They choose to burrow deeper into the misery groove,
Because to rise above, there's initiative required
Of self motivation along with betterment desired.

Inadequacies within, though very unappealing,
The Miserable choose to compensate for by stealing
From others who have worked for and earned integrity,
As trophies for their vainness to share in their misery.

Actions and behaviours reflect on the source
Not on directed targets nor intended course.
The Miserable are only capable of misery projection;
Their ignorance cannot grasp their miserable reflection.

Wallowers in misery seek more company
Wanting others to feel their own misery.
Bringing down others to share their lowly roost
Is the highlight of their life and their only boost.

The Mierable will stop at nothing in their pursuit,
With no level too low to stoop to suck in a recruit.
They respect no boundaries; their wrongs they justify.
Deception of all sorts is their guide they live by.

It's important to remember to keep things in perspective,
To know the truth behind another's cruel objective.
For when we understand why others are unkind,
They cannot steal from us our own peace of mind.

When we encounter people who cause us a frowning,
We can be sure in misery they are drowning.
When all they can project is hate and bitterness,
They're void of anything except self loathsomeness.

However, bad behaviours we must not condone,
Incorporate or feed, make them part of our own.
Wrongs never make a right, regardless of the count,
And only right can override and the wrong surmount.

Greet negative with positive; wrongs greet with right;
Meet lies with truth; to all darkness meet with Light.
Never participate in an arena where there are no rules,
Where the grand prize is misery, awarded by its fools.

Unless one is a hermit, hidden from the world,
It's impossible to avoid all the misery being hurled.
Though we are tempted, we must take a stand
For misery is a slippery slope right into quicksand.

We can only show others a better alternative;
The choice they make thereafter with how they live,
Is theirs and theirs alone which they will decide
To stay on misery's path or to seek a better ride.

"The Miserable among us, so rotten and so rude,
Make themselves clairvoyant with their attitude.
As they attack others, they paint their self portrait
Of their miserable existence and pathetic state."

Keeping-Ones-Word

Howdy folks! ♥

VERY, VERY few people actually keep their word. Hence, the same goes for being able to absolutely trust as well. If a person can't or doesn't keep their word, they cannot be completely trusted either. Elementary!

Trust has two phases. First, one has to trust another with something and then second, watch and listen carefully as to how another treats what they were trusted with. It's in how the other person regards what they were trusted with that tells the tale of whether or not they are a trustworthy individual. I've learned well to 'test the waters' first with something minor or with something I won't care if it gets around and sometimes even with something I want to get around. The results have been VERY few people pass the test with almost everyone I've tested flunking out bigtime. Needless to say, those tested and flunked, I don't ever then place any trust in them again. "Burn me once, shame on you; burn me twice, shame on me!"
♥

"Keeping One's Word"
(image pending)

Keeping One's Word is a rare find today,
Since VERY few follow, do what they say.
Words are so easy to dispense and spew,
But require investment to follow them through.

When in confidence to someone you speak,
Can you really be sure, they will not leak
Anything said in private to another soul;
Can they really be trusted to be not a mole?

VERY few can be believed, trusted this much,
And in your absence, when you're out of touch,
They'll tell another what they swore they would not
And it's not because they simply forgot.

So many times I've heard the same ol' line,
"It's between you and I; don't worry, it's fine",
Only to discover eventually and learn,
What was said in private did come back, return.

How many will promise there's something they'll do,
But then forget what they said and don't follow through?
Then when you ask them about doing what they said,
They react with belligerence to fault you instead.

VERY few people actually will ever keep their word
And when they renege, they'll claim you've misheard.
If you then prove to them what in fact they said,
Don't expect apologies, just insults instead.

Keeping One's Word is indeed, a VERY rare trait
That only a character of excellence will cultivate.
One who does not can never be trusted completely,
If they place no value on behaving discreetly.

Grief

Howdy folks! ♥

Having experienced a tremendous loss, losing my beloved Mother, this poem touches on the effects/repercussions of a great loss and the resulting grief. People will say, "It will get easier with time."

It's been over ten years since I lost my Mom. She was my rock, my mentor, my hero, my inspiration, my motivation, a best friend whom I could trust her with anything and I could always rely on her to speak to me honestly even when I didn't necessarily want to hear the truth. She was a lady, modest, with strong convictions and principles, which she lived by. She had a very strong faith in God, which she relied and depended upon to get her through her struggles in life, and she had many hardships and heartaches to bear. My Mom's life was never easy, but even so, she never lost her sense of humour and her laugh was hearty and contagious. My Mom was a very strong woman of integrity and virtue and I will always be eternally grateful that God blessed me with a Mom who provided me with a wonderful example for me to aspire to live my life as she did. God couldn't have given me a better example.

But in regards to the 'getting easier' part of missing her, an unfillable void doesn't get easier. You just make adjustments to be able to bear the pain and grief of the loss better, pushing it deeper inside you so you can conceal the pain from others, because very few want to hear or know about it. Smile and the whole world will smile with you, but cry and you'll cry alone. People love to label others' pain as 'drama' until it's 'their' pain. Then it becomes 'real' to them and so, a much different scenario, no longer labeled as 'drama'.

"Drama is labeled 'just drama' when it's someone else's pain
And doesn't become a real crisis until it hits one's home domain."

~ Artsieladie Quote ♥

"There's no pain greater than the pain within,
Deeply concealed behind a smile, a grin."

"When pain is fresh and raw, others will extend
Sympathy to soothe a bit but sympathy has an end.
Meanwhile, the pain lingers on, absent of relief,
And sympathy fades away but not so, the Grief."

Time may lessen the rawness and the shock, remove,
But time can't undo a loss, an empty space improve.
Memories we have made must then us, console,
But memories cannot replace the missing of a soul.

Such a void cannot be filled, no matter how we try;
Questions can't be answered, especially those of why.
Still, we must carry on as usual, as we did before,
Expected to be again okay; our former selves, restore.

Thankfully, most pain in life that we must endure,
Time helps to heal and provides us with a cure.
But then there are the pains that time cannot relieve;
That we cannot escape from, always we will grieve.

Learning to live again and function as we should
Is a task unpleasant with guilt when we feel good.
But we must come to grips with, though of us, it's part;
We must find a way to cope with a new hole in our heart.

Moving on is tough when feeling like you're standing still,
While others carry on with life and happiness they till.
In the quicksand of Grief, it's a struggle to get free,
Especially when you're left alone, others cannot see.

It's vital to remember that when it comes to Grief,
There is no specific time frame nor is the time brief.
Yes, we must live our lives but remember to extend
Our empathy to those who's Grief may never end.

The reality of a loss often comes with a period of delay
And doesn't settle in until all others have gone away.
When alone, the Grief stricken experience for real
The greatness of their loss, profoundly and surreal.

It's easy to get caught up in life, forget those in need,
Especially those who seem okay, offer not a plead,
But there is no greater pain than of the Grief within,
Masked behind the visible by careful discipline.

Though sympathy fades away, the Grief still remains
Long after the condolences, lingers still, the pains.
We must not expect others to handle as we would,
Their Grief and pain, as we think they should.

Folks handle Grief differently for reasons to abate.
Sometimes we can't understand how they do equate.
But agreement is not paramount for to take place,
Compassion and empathy, done so with grace.

Words like, "I'm so sorry", don't really solace bring;
To one grieving from a loss, they don't really mean a thing.
For such words can't bring back a cherished Loved one, dear;
While listening helps a griever to release their pain, severe.

It's best to be kind to others because we never know,
What inside they're suffering with but doesn't show.
If we try always to treat others as we would like to be,
Those with Grief suffering, we won't add to their misery.

"Remember the Golden Rule,
'Tis golden for a reason;
'Tis never out of style
Nor ever out of season."

Regret

Howdy folks! ♥

Regret is one of those negative emotions that like other negatives, such as guilt, resentment, bitterness, jealousy, etc., rob us of the feeling of peace and contentment and subtract from our true joy and happiness as well. The more negative traits and feelings we allow to have power within us, the less joy, happiness, peace, and contentment we feel and the more miserable we are and the more contempt we have then for ourselves, which then we ultimately project. All anyone has to do is just look around, especially all over the Internet, especially through social media, to see the negative behaviour to know there are way too many miserable people out there.

Keeping ourselves free of regret and regret's guilt involves how well we have our priorities in the right order. So many are consumed with making money beyond what is needed to live and want, want, want materialistic things, possessions, and are so wrapped up in such, have no time to spare for those they truly Love and cherish, including not enough time to even express to their Loved ones what and how much they mean to them. So, ultimately we set ourselves up for regret and its guilt to eventually plague us.

The one aspect that especially comes with regret and its guilt, is you have to live with it as long as you live because you can never right it because once a person passes away, they're gone from us, from the life we are currently living, therefore, leaving us with NO recourse.

I am a firm believer in letting someone know they are Loved, they are respected, they've done something good, etc.. When we put off the opportunity, we gamble with fate, with time, and so, if we reap regret, we have no one to blame but ourselves. There's not one of us who knows when our time is up nor when someone else's time is up who we admire, Love, respect, etc.. If we are mean, hurtful, etc., these may be either our last words or the last words another one hears.

"Yesterday is gone; tomorrow may never be.
Today is all we have with a guarantee."

When we put on hold, procrastinate,
With important matters, we hesitate,
Like telling those we Love how much we do,
Thinking there's always tomorrow for us to
Say to another how about them we feel,
Gambling with time that time won't steal
From us more chances we're delaying,
Blaming circumstances to keep from saying
What's true and real  within our heart,
What's within us, our deepest part,
The day will come when time runs out,
When we will learn well, all about
How Regret with guilt has us, burned,
And the lesson too late, we have learned.

When a Loved one's gone, they're forever gone,
Never again will they greet a day's new dawn.
All our money and our prized possessions;
All our many excuses and our obsessions
Cannot reverse, turn back the hands of fate,
Leaving our Regret in a fixed, forever state.
There's nothing we can do when time has run out
For ourselves and others, a fact with no doubt.
Knowing this, still, we gamble there will be
Another day awaiting, another we will see,
When we will then take the time before its end
To express our Love and caring and we will spend
Time with those we Love, more memories to make,
Until we're hit with reality; back, we cannot take.

When we're left with guilt from our lack of time spent
And also with Regret because words to say, we meant,
We have to face ourselves knowing we are to blame
And the fault is ours alone intertwined with shame.
All these heavy burdens we must wear and bear
All on our own since with others we cannot share.
But what we bring upon ourselves as an adult,
We must be accountable for what's our own fault.
When we take for granted those we Love and cherish
And they're lost from us forever when they perish,
We not only lose them, but our inner peace as well,
For grief with Regret runs deep within us to dwell.

In the grand scheme of life, what matters not
Is our money and possessions we have got,
For when our Loved ones, we most treasure
Are gone from us, there is no measure
Of the loss we feel, a loss so profoundly great,
Our money and possessions can’t cancel out, negate.
Yet, still we gamble with those we Love
And life's true meaning, we lose sight of,
To seek fulfillment where there is none,
Only to find wasted time cannot be undone.
"Time wasted is time lost,
We realise though, not the cost,
Until time wasted brings remorse
With no escape or recourse."

When a Loved one passes, the curtain's drawn;
A star on your stage is forever Gone.
There's no round trip, no returning,
Leaving emptiness filled with only yearning.

Time is precious with those we Love,
If taken for granted, the importance of,
With regret, we could be left,
Resentful, bitter about the theft
Of time, we feel's been stolen away
But time really, we allowed to stray.

When a Loved one's Gone, reality hits.
Your heart feels shattered into bits.
If however, you have no doubt
Your Loved one knew well about
How Loved they were and still, they are,
And in your life they were, are a star,
There is solace in knowing they knew
Before they left to be Gone from you.

Too often we think there's plenty of time,
Until one day there's a missing chime,
A chime we'll miss making our clock
Not quite in sync with its missing tock.
Our heart will still beat but not without ache
For no one can fill in the permanent break.

Those we rely on, their Love, their support,
We must never abandon, forget in our court.
Trust that's built, taken years to do,
Can't be redone the same, as true.
Gone is forever, can't be undone.
So, we must cherish each Loved one,
For we never can know which day is the last,
When a dearest presence will be Gone to our past.
