Keeping Up Appearances takes precedence these days.
It's all about how we look in the various visual ways.
Our clothes must be fashionable, our hair must always shine,
Our body must be perfect, our face look young and fine.
So we work and work for the cost of this charade.
Though we are so stressed, the expense must be paid.

While who we are within, it seems we have forgot,
For how we appear's important, yet within, matters not.
Inside we can be rotten, selfish to the core;
As long as we're looking good, 'cause nothing matters more.
Modesty, former classiness, now has aside been flung
For sexual promiscuity and a wagging, toilet tongue.

Technology is keeping up with appearances' demand
With selfie taking phones attached to every hand.
The competition's fierce on the crowded stage,
Where breeds narcissism, spitefulness, and rage.

Being public is what's in, while privacy is out.
It's tell and show the world all, barring any doubt.
Everyone is public and so is everything,
All except humility as we, to our egos, cling.

All this showing off with our egos on parade,
We're too high on self to see, the outcome of our trade.
As Keeping Up Appearances keeps taking precedence,
Human values keep eroding along with common sense.
If Keeping Up Appearances remains the center of our attention,
Humanity will pay the cost with no values left to mention.

There is no better way to learn how much people truly care
Than when you find yourself in need of help or in deep despair.
Many people 'seem' to be sincere and honest as they appear,
But when you really need them things become so crystal clear.

These are the times we should pay close attention to,
Because THIS is how we learn who is and isn't true.
Those who 'stand by us' and 'show to us' they care,
They are the treasures in our life; few in number, rare.

All the rest we can know for sure won't likely ever be,
Anyone we can depend upon, a reality we must see.
Those who stand beside us deserve from us the same
Returned back to them without needing to ask for, claim.

Throughout our lives there are many who will 'say' they care,
But they speak with empty words, meaningless and bare,
If they never back them up, never follow through.
Take them with a grain of salt; trust them, never do.

Most will say anything to make themselves appear
Like they're good and caring people and most sincere.
But underneath, inside, they hope they won't be tested,
Because they know of themselves they are not invested.

Those who truly Love us and care will show to us they do,
Their words may be few but their actions will show through.
It's a person's actions that speak mostly for their heart;
Is how we separate the true ones from the ones not, apart.

A person's word is only as good as what their actions 'say';
Regardless of what they speak, the truth's in their display.
We can spare ourselves some grief if we keep ourselves aware
There are those among us who just pretend to about us, care.

Beware Of The Sheep who "Baa-a-as" so sweet!
Are there hooves present or paws for feet?
Check the wool, do thoroughly feel,
Polyester, the finest, or is it real?

Examine closely if you're feeling charmed,
For you may be the prey to be disarmed.
Seduction is subtle, cunning, disguised,
And when mastered, it's unrecognised
By the unsuspecting, gentle and caring,
Who aren't looking for a sheep to be wearing
An overcoat of make believe wool
Or the sworn truth which really is bull.

Remember the devil, as you might have guessed,
Doesn't come with horns, so obviously dressed.
No! The devil comes cloaked, "cloaked as a saint",
Under the Umbrella of God's Words to paint
A picture to convince, make you believe,
Masterly done to artistically deceive.

Don't be afraid though to investigate.
Don't ignore intuition or even hesitate
Because inside of you is the Truthful Voice
Of God telling you to make the choice
Of listening to Him, for He does not lie,
And it is He on Who you CAN rely.
Not on one who slyly laces their words
With sweetness, perfumed, but really are turds
Of crap, of bull, of stinking dung,
All spit out from their forked, split tongue.

So if you get a whiff, follow your nose,
Don't dare swallow what they propose.
Avoid them surely like The Plague instead.
Be NOT their prey to be on, fed.
Each human wolf is a treacherous beast,
Hearts and souls are which on, they feast.
There's no more cunning, shrewd, or sly,
Than a wolf as a sheep to fool the eye.

Beware Of The Sheep, posing as a friend.
Closely inspect, whether real or pretend.
Remember too, they travel in packs,
Working together, covering their tracks.
Don't become their filet mignon, juicy steak.
Insist they prove they are real not fake.
If there's nothing they're hiding,
They'll be willing and abiding,
To show themselves as real and true.
Anything less, they're fooling you.

Keep closely in touch with your Inner Voice.
It is God warning you to be careful of your choice.
These wolves may fool 'us', mislead, misguide,
But from the Wrath of God they cannot hide.
Regardless of how these wolves are dressed so well,
They shall reap what they sow in the Fires of Hell.

So, Beware Of The Sheep who "Baa-a-as" so sweet!
You may be instead a potential to eat!
