There is no better way to learn how much people truly care
Than when you find yourself in need of help or in deep despair.
Many people 'seem' to be sincere and honest as they appear,
But when you really need them things become so crystal clear.
These are the times we should pay close attention to,
Because THIS is how we learn who is and isn't true.
Those who 'stand by us' and 'show to us' they care,
They are the treasures in our life; few in number, rare.
All the rest we can know for sure won't likely ever be,
Anyone we can depend upon, a reality we must see.
Those who stand beside us deserve from us the same
Returned back to them without needing to ask for, claim.
Throughout our lives there are many who will 'say' they care,
But they speak with empty words, meaningless and bare,
If they never back them up, never follow through.
Take them with a grain of salt; trust them, never do.
Most will say anything to make themselves appear
Like they're good and caring people and most sincere.
But underneath, inside, they hope they won't be tested,
Because they know of themselves they are not invested.
Those who truly Love us and care will show to us they do,
Their words may be few but their actions will show through.
It's a person's actions that speak mostly for their heart;
Is how we separate the true ones from the ones not, apart.
A person's word is only as good as what their actions 'say';
Regardless of what they speak, the truth's in their display.
We can spare ourselves some grief if we keep ourselves aware
There are those among us who just pretend to about us, care.
